Cadillac’s classic full-size SUV is back and better than ever for 2021, boasting a makeover both inside and out that has people looking twice. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV offers more space, new deluxe features, and plenty of the latest technology to keep it at the head of the pack in the highly competitive world of luxury SUVs.
A Redesign of Cadillac’s Flagship SUV
The Escalade ESV is not just a bigger version of the Escalade with a longer wheelbase and more legroom – it also offers a redesigned rear suspension that delivers a smoother ride, and several interior upgrades that have taken the luxe factor even higher than previous generations.
This new version of Cadillac’s bestselling SUV is powered by the same 420-hp V-8 engine as previous models, but it is now paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Buyers have the option of selecting a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. All-wheel drive is also optional.
Pricing on the 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV
The ESV’s entry-level trim, starting at $81,130, has a faux-leather interior (as opposed to the real leather you get on higher trims), keyless entry, heated seats, parking sensors, triple-zone climate control, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.
For just a few thousand dollars more, the Premium Luxury trim has several added driver-assist and performance features that are nice to have. However, to get some of the most deluxe features, such as messaging front seats and a back-seat entertainment system, you will need to get up into the higher trim levels. The very top-of-the-line Sport Platinum trim will cost you $114,240.
Favorite Features
There are plenty of deluxe touches on an Escalade that make it a true luxury ride, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that this is also a very powerful vehicle! The new Escalade’s trailering capabilities are up to 8,100 lbs if you opt for a rear-wheel-drive model or 7,900 lbs if you have all-wheel drive. This is plenty to haul a sizeable boat or trailer. The higher trims include a Heavy-Duty Trailering package, although this can be added as an option on any model.
Super Cruise Semi-Automated Driving System
Cadillac’s incredible “Super Cruise” driving system brings hands-free technology to your driving experience. Using high-def maps, road sensors, and an in-car monitoring system, your SUV will drive itself (as long as you’re paying attention). This semi-automated driving technology can be added to any trim other than the base model.
Premium Connectivity
The Escalade has upgraded its digital dashboard and added a redesigned navigation system that is incredibly comprehensive and user-friendly. If you’ll be using your Escalade ESV as a family vehicle, the optional rear-seat entertainment unit with two display screens and streaming capability is really nice to have.
There is still plenty of technology that comes standard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a premium surround-sound stereo system, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are all included on the base trim.
