Hempstead Lake State Park If you're looking for somewhere a little more family-friendly to take the kids, then the nearby Hempstead Lake State Park is a great option. The two ponds, South Pond and Macdonald Pond are regularly stocked with trout every fall. You can expect to find bass, perch, carp, and sunfish here as well.
